| Johann (Hannes) Schneider was born in Stuben 1890. He spent his child and youth time in house Nr. 14, the today´s house "Hannes Schneider". |

Around 1900 the first skiers began to storm the mountains and Hannes Schneider was one of the first, who took part enthusiastically. In the age of only 15 years he was participant of the first ski course in Stuben. |

| Very early he developed his own style, which he taught as a skiing instructor in St.Anton a. Arlberg in a skiing school of his own. |

Soon he shoot "Mountain-Films" under the direction of Dr. Arnold Frank and Sepp Allgeier. He played with Leni Riefenstahl and Luis Trenker. Hannes Schneider became world-wide famous and visited in 1930 even Japan. In 1939 he traveled with his wife and the two children to the USA, where he found a new homeland in North Conway (New Hampshire) and also developed a skiing school. |

In April 1955 Hannes Schneider died on a cardiac infarct. His life work, the skiing school, was continued by his son Herbert.
The ski style of Hannes Schneider was taken over by the whole world . Today the technique of the "stem turn" or his "cross jump " is teached in a modern style all over the world.
